SUFFOLK—The Southampton Indians improved to 3-1 on the year as they defeated the Denbigh Patriots 6-1 in the King’s Fork Spring Break Tournament on Monday afternoon.

The Indians were able to take a quick 1-0 lead in the top of the first when James Williams singled to right field. Williams was able to move to second on Hunter Peck’s sacrifice bunt attempt and then scored on Jack Bunn’s single to right.

In the inning, the Indians were able to load the bases, but were unable to capitalize.

Southampton continued its scoring in the top of the fourth inning with some timely 2-out hits.

Austin Pierce’s hit to right-center started the rally. Williams, Peck, Hayden Spalding and Jack Bunn all got hits and scored safely in the inning.

The Indians’ offense was able to muster 11 hits while committing two errors on the day. Williams, Spalding, Peck and Bunn had multiple hits and Nash Warren and Austin Pierce had a hit apiece.
