ISLE OF WIGHT—The Isle of Wight soccer team gave Head Coach Caren Moore a gift — a win.
“It is a great feeling,” she said. “The best birthday present I could have asked for.”
The Chargers came out Monday and played defense, fighting for every possession and limiting the shots against their goalkeeper to 7 in the 2-1 victory versus Fuqua.
“Our defense always plays very hard,” Moore said. “I can’t commend our defense enough.
“The defense is the last line, and if they get through, of course, they are going to score. But our defense is strong.”
Both Charger goals were scored by Justin Cobb. The first was assisted by Will Leaman, and the second by Tommy Hutchins.
“They are playing great together,” she said. “We sort of had a slow start, but after that, the motivation was there. They got into it, and we took the win.”
Isle of Wight is 7-0-1 on the season. They next play Monday against Kenston Forest at 4 p.m. They play Blessed Sacrament on April 30.
