Henry C. Bryant

WINDSOR—Henry Clay Bryant, 89, a long-time resident of the Vincent’s Grove area of Southampton County, passed away on June 26, 2014.

He was a son of the late Henry Clinton and Rebie Gray Bryant, and was predeceased by his wife, Inez Garlick Bryant and a son, Henry Clay Bryant Jr.

Mr. Bryant was a retired machine tender on No. 5 paper machine at Union Camp Corporation with 43 years of service.

He was an Army Air Corp veteran of World War II having served in England, a member of Vincent’s Grove United Methodist Church and was a former member of Indian Town Hunt Club.

Survivors include his two daughters, Christine Bryant-Harden (Lee) of Birmingham, Alabama, and Connie B. Thompson (Randy) of Kilmarnock; one son, Clint Bryant (Kathy) of Windsor; two sisters, Idra B. Jennings and Judy Zoellner, both of Portsmouth; one brother, Lewis Bryant (Lou) of Courtland; two grandsons, Adam Bryant (Kristy) and John Bryant; and two great-grandsons, Braydon Clay Bryant and Hudson Chase Bryant.

The funeral will take place at 3 p.m. on Sunday, June 29, in Wright Funeral Home, Franklin with Pastor Nancy Palmer officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in Capron Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Saturday in the funeral home, and suggests memorials be made to Vincent’s Grove United Methodist Church, c/o Randy Burgess, 23359 Hanging Tree Rd., Courtland, VA 23837.
