Bernice W. Ellis

FRANKLIN—Bernice Worrell Ellis, 85, passed away on July 30, 2104.

She was a daughter of the late H. Morris Worrell and Susie Ashton Worrell Griffin.

Bernice was predeceased by her husband, Howard Ellis; a daughter, Joyce Bradford; three sisters, Virginia, Mattie and Effie; and three brothers, James, David and Grover Worrell.

Born in Southampton County, she had retired as town clerk for the town of Newsoms, was a resident of East Pavilion, and a member of Newsoms Baptist Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Sandra Rountree; a sister, Frances DeBerry, of Ahoskie, North Carolina; two grandchildren, Brian Rountree (Holly) and Laura Wright (Ricky); four great-grandchildren, Mason and Madison Wright and Taylor and Hunter Rountree; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The graveside service will take place at 11 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 1, in Hollywood Cemetery, Newsoms, with the Rev. Darwin Edwards officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Newsoms Baptist Church, Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 312, Newsoms, VA 23874.
