IWA Chargers blank Vikings

LAWRENCEVILLE-On Friday night in Lawrenceville, Isle of Wight Academy’s Alec Edwards gave Brunswick Academy a headache in a 40-0 VISAA Division 4 Virginia Commonwealth Conference match.
The Chargers had 305 total yards, with 248 of those coming on the ground, and 189 of those rushing yards belonged to Edwards. He lit up the Vikings’ defense, averaging almost 16 yards a carry.
Meanwhile, the Vikings were only able to put together 59 yards on the ground, and the 5-14 passing attack only mustered 11 more yards.
Zen Bristol started the scoring off in Lawrenceville by recovering a fumble in the endzone for a quick 1st-quarter touchdown. After Dylan Poe connected on the extra point, the Chargers were up 7-0.
Then Edwards took over. He scored later in the 1st quarter from 35 yards out; then in the 2nd quarter, he scored from 2 yards out; Edwards got a third score, again in the 2nd, from 4 yards out; and finally, Edwards would score again on an 80-yard punt return in the 3rd. Poe was 3-4 on extra points during this period, making the score 34-0.
The Chargers would put one more up. This time it was Caleb Davis, who scored from 19 yards out. Poe missed on the kick and the final in Lawrenceville was 40-0.
Bryce Casey was 4-8 on the night and threw for 57 yards, but he had 2 interceptions that BA was not able to capitalize on.
The Chargers also fumbled it twice, but each time they were able to recover. The Vikings had three fumbles and only recovered one of them.
