LAWRENCEVILLE, GA.—Daniel George McKenzie Jr., 92, passed away on Jan. 25, 2015.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Dorothy B. McKenzie, and is survived by his son, Daniel G. McKenzie III and wife, Sandy, of Richland, Washington; daughters, Nancy Belton and husband, Bob, of Richmond, Virginia; Jane Cutchins and husband, Cliff, of Richmond; Susan Gailes and husband, Chuck, of Huntsville, Alabama; Helen Heider and husband, Tom, of Lawrenceville; and Ava Pawlowski and husband, Rick, of Lawrenceville; 16 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; brothers, Robert McKenzie of Decatur, Alabama, and Thomas McKenzie and wife, Charlotte, of Gadsden, Alabama; and sister, Helen Bator of Golden, Colorado.
Mr. McKenzie was a U.S. Navy veteran, a loving father and greatest granddad and great granddad. Friends and co-workers always noted how very optimistic, fair and caring he was. If everybody lived like him the world would be a better place. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
The funeral Mass honoring the life of Daniel George McKenzie Jr. will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 28 at 11 a.m. at St. Marguerite D’ Youville Catholic Church, Lawrenceville, with Father Harrison serving as celebrant. Reception to follow the service. Interment will be held at East Shadow Lawn Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 4 until 6 p.m., with at Rosary at 6 p.m., in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations maybe made to Local Boy Scout Council or St Marguerite D’ Youville Catholic Church in Lawrenceville, in memory of Daniel George McKenzie Jr.
