FRANKLIN—George Wilbur “G. W.” Turner Jr., 79, passed away on Jan. 27, 2015, at his home.

Mr. Turner was born in Isle of Wight County, a son of the late George Wilbur and Emily Nelms Turner. He was also predeceased by a sister, Catherine Lilley.

He was a member of Franklin Congregational Christian Church, and retired mill foreman for Birdsong Peanut Company. He enjoyed fishing and camping with family and friends.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 58 years, Jessie Griffin Turner; one daughter, Susan Joyner of Courtland; one son, George W. Turner III and his wife, Judy, of Wakefield; three grandchildren, Calli Joyner and Nathan and AnnaBelle Turner; three nieces; and his faithful companion, Buddy.

The memorial service will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 31, in Franklin Congregational Christian Church with the Rev. James H. Hyatt Jr. officiating.

Memorial donations may be made to the Franklin Congregational Christian Church Women’s Fellowship, American Cancer Society or the Hunterdale Fire and Rescue Squad.
