Vernon C. Taylor

FRANKLIN—Vernon Clayton “Poopie” Taylor, 78, left us peacefully on Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2015. His wife and family were by his side and will cherish their happy times forever.
He was a graduate of Franklin High School and attended Elon College.
He was an active member of the Franklin Jaycees for many years. He was a member of Franklin Congregational Christian Church.
Vernon was manager for Sinclair and Valentine, and made ink for St. Regis Paper Company. He retired from the North Carolina State Welcome Center.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 55 years, Glenn D. Taylor; his son, Vernon Clayton Taylor Jr. and his wife, Jamie, of Jarratt, Virginia; his daughter, Jennifer Schanbacher; and three grandchildren, Colton James Taylor, Keenan Schanbacher and Brenna Schanbacher. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Vernon was predeceased by his father, James Clayton Taylor; his mother, Laura Hester Taylor Darden; stepfather, James D. “Jimmy” Darden; and a sister, Dianne T. Pocrnich.
The memorial service will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 21, in Franklin Congregational Christian Church with the Rev. James Hyatt officiating. A reception will take place after the service in the Fellowship Hall. The family will receive friends at their residence at 48 Crescent Drive.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Franklin Congregational Christian Church.
