To the Editor:

I recently spent five days on the river where I’m out of touch with what’s going on in the world. When I get home from these patrols, I like to find out what happened on our planet while I was gone.

I was shocked when I got home. I turned on the TV and the leading news story was that Bruce Jenner is now a woman! Is that what CNN, HLN and Fox consider “Headline News?”

Is tabloid news type reporting now the prerequisite to make headline news on major network stations? Anyway, after waiting for 12 minutes and not seeing anything but how Bruce Jenner is now at peace because he has become a woman, I turned off the TV and assumed that all must be perfect with the world; no civil crisis, no wars, no plagues, no disasters. I can now go back to the river thankful knowing that our world is at peace and Bruce Jenner is happy.
