The U.S. Navy Fleet Forces Wind Ensemble Band will perform at Barrett’s Landing for the annual Patriotism in the Park event on Sunday.

The event, honoring veterans and active duty officers, has been organized by the Downtown Franklin Association for more than 10 years.

“The highlight of the event is when they play the anthems of the five branch services,” said Dan Howe, director of the Downtown Franklin Association. “We display all the flags and retirees and active duty officers are invited to stand behind their flags. That’s very touching.”

Boy Scout Troop 17 will serve as the event’s color guard.

Admission is free. A concessions stand will serve hot dogs, hamburgers, chips, French fries, soda and water at a cost. Gates open to the public at 5:30 p.m. on Sunday. The band will start playing at 6:30 p.m.

Attendees are encouraged to bring their own blankets and lawn chairs to seat themselves on the lawn surrounding the gazebo where the band will perform.

In case of inclement weather the rain location of the concert will be the American Legion Center on Armory Drive.
