Early Monday morning at around 1 o’clock, officers were called to the 100 section of Forest Pine Apartments to look into reported shotgun blasts, said Capt. Timothy Whitt, spokesman for Franklin Police Department.
Despite attempts, they were unable to find anything suspicious at the time. At 8:30 a.m., officers returned to the apartments when a resident found spent shotgun casings behind the building. The police also learned that a man was observed carrying a shotgun in the complex earlier that morning.
Continuing investigation led them back to a domestic violence call where an arrest had been made at 2:36 a.m., also in the 100 section. At the time, there was no mention of a firearm. However, offers recovered a 12 gauge shotgun and a box of ammunition from that apartment.
Firearm charges have not been issued against the individual arrested for domestic violence.
Police are asking anyone who may have information about shots being fired or about the person carrying a shotgun in the apartment complex to call the Franklin Police Department at 562-8575 or 562-0877.
