FRANKLIN
Community Health Systems, the parent company of Southampton Memorial Hospital, has decided to shift 38 of its hospitals into what will be come a publicly traded hospital company. But the local medical center will not be a part of that spin-off.

“Nothing is changing at Southampton Memorial Hospital,” CEO Kim Marks stated in an announcement released late Monday afternoon. “Our patients can continue to expect the same high-quality healthcare services and positive experience at Southampton Memorial Hospital. Our affiliation with Community Health Systems provides us with resources and other advantage that benefit our patients and community. We are pleased that we will remain a part of this organization.”

Marks added that the transaction is expected to be done in the first quarter of 2016.
