You would be led to believe that all of Southampton County will be rooting for Virginia Tech when they host the defending national champion Ohio State Buckeyes this Monday night. That may not be the case, however.

On Friday evening, The Tidewater News received reports that a white Ohio State flag was covering the Virginia Tech logo that is painted onto the side of Mount Hokie near Capron.

It is unclear at this time who placed the flag on top of the dirt mound, but it is rumored to have appeared sometime Friday afternoon.

Kickoff for the highly-anticipated matchup between Buckeyes and Hokies is scheduled for Monday at 8 p.m. on ESPN. Ohio State is an 11-point favorite.

Last season, Virginia Tech stunned seventh-ranked Ohio State in front of a then-record crowd in Columbus.
