Southampton volleyball lost against Park View on Thursday, Sept. 17. The final scores for the games were 25-18, 25-9 and 25-17.

“Park View has a very strong team. They have one player who dominated the game,” coach Amy Davis said.

She then went on to say that the team did not pass the ball well enough, which resulted in them not being able to show what all their offense can do. Davis said that Park View was able to identify their mistakes and that kept them in control for most of the match.

“We had moments of momentum where we were playing good volleyball and making them work for it, but unfortunately those moments were not enough to challenge Park View,” she continued. “We will take away from this match the things we need to work on, it’s mainly little things but when you play a good team the little things make the difference. We will be ready for the rematch.”

Highlights for the Indians were Emma Drake with seven kills and four blocks; Jenna Billups with four kills; Morgan Bunn with three kills, three blocks and four aces; and both Courtney Vinson and Danielle Moore with six assists.

The JV team also lost to Park View with scores of 25-18 and 25-17.

The team was in action again on Tuesday night, knocking off Sussex. The scores for these games were 25-10, 25-6 and 25-13.

Standouts from this game were Jenna Billups with five kills; Erin Rountree with three aces and four kills; Madison Wright with three kills; Marissa Haydu with three aces and two kills; Danielle Moore with nine assists; and Brittany Bunn with seven assists.

The team will play again on Sept. 29 at Brunswick.
