Louise H. Bryant

FRANKLIN — Deaconess Louise Hood Bryant of Harrison Street passed away on Sept. 29, 2015, while resting peacefully in her home.
She was native of North Carolina, born on Sept. 15, 1920.
Mrs. Bryant was a member of Saint Luke A.M.E. Zion Church, where she served on the Deaconess Board, Trustee Board, Church Clerk, and she demonstrated her dedication to God and her church by serving on many other boards and committees. Deaconess Bryant was a member of the Franklin-Southampton County Retired Teachers Association, AARP, the 55-and-Over Bowling League and the Relay For Life.
She attended the Norfolk Public Schools, graduating from Booker T. Washington High School in 1938. Upon graduating from high school, she furthered her education at Shaw University in Raleigh, North Carolina, where she received a bachelor’s degree in education.
For 29 years, Louise was married to Robert Bryant until his passing in 1984. She was also preceded in death not only by her husband and parents, but also her daughter, Eugenia B. Grace, who departed this earthly life on Jan. 5, 2013.
Deaconess Bryant’s memory will be cherished by her children, Jane Holloway (Leroy) and Robert L. Bryant Sr.; eight grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
The celebration of her life will be at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 4, in Saint Luke A.M.E. Zion Church, with the pastor, Rev. Dr. Joseph Perry, delivering the eulogy. The committal and benediction will be in Southview Cemetery.
On the day of service, her body will be placed in the church by 1 p.m. for viewing.
A traditional service with dignity will be conducted by Wm. M. Johnson & Sons Inc., 224 S. Main St., Franklin.
