Southampton Academy beat Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot Academy Tuesday night in straight sets, 25-15, 25-17 and 25-23.

“Ashten Hinkle and Kara Beth Poole both served very well and went on great runs,” coach Rebecca Harper said. “Ashten Hinkle had 18 serves in and Jordan Marks had a lot of good passes in serve receive.”

Highlights of the game were Mason Pope with 13 kills, Alison Mathews with four kills, Ashten Hinkle with five kills and Avery Pope with 27 assists.

“It was great to get another conference win Tuesday night. Winning games like this one helps build our confidence,” Harper added.

The coach was able to get every team member into the game at some point and move others into slightly different positions. She said she was happy to see that many of the girls are flexible with where they play.

“We got down in the game and had to come back. I love seeing us fight our way back. It shows a lot of heart,” she continued. “I see a lot of improvement from some of our first games. I have especially noticed more consistency from the service line. That has made a big difference for us.”

The Raiders will play again on Tuesday night against Banner Christian.
