Ida T. Smith

CHESAPEAKE — lda T. Smith was called to her heavenly home on Sunday, Oct. 11, 2015.
Ida was predeceased by her loving husband, Edward Junious “Goodbuddy” Smith Sr. Ida was also predeceased by two brothers, Richard Jr. and Linwood Nichols; three sisters, Ruth Nichols, Ella N. Ricks and Leona H. Nichols; and also a granddaughter, LaSonia McSwain.
Ida was born in Southampton County, Virginia, to the late Richard N. and Mary Young Nichols on Jan. 15, 1934.
She was a retired registered nurse.
Ida leaves to cherish her memory two sons, Edward J. Smith Jr. of Portsmouth, the youngest (her baby) Andre’ L. Smith of Norfolk; five daughters, the baby girl is Hallice Waddell-Evans (John) of Virginia Beach; Yvonne Wiggins (Tony) of Chesapeake; Cassandra Smith of Richmond; Faye D. Nichols and Belinda N. Everett of Courtland, Virginia; her treasured and beloved sister, Pecola N. Councill of Franklin, Virginia; and a loving sister-in-law, Linda Smith of Bridgeport Conn.
Ida had 12 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, newphews, relatives and friends.
The celebration of her life will be Monday, Oct. 19, at noon in New Rising Sun United Holiness Church, 1709 Wilson Road, Norfolk, by Elder Willie Respass.
Viewing will be at Graves Funeral Home, Norfolk.
