Laura Newsome Stieh

FRANKLIN — Laura Newsome Stieh, 75, went to be with the Lord on Oct. 23, 2015.
She was a native of Southampton County, and a daughter of the late Roma Wallace and Oretha Cobb Newsome. She was predeceased by two sisters, Irene O’Meara and Glenda Turner.
She was a member of Black Creek Baptist Church, a 1957 graduate of Southampton High School and a graduate of Paul D. Camp College. She had retired as a supervisor in the Accounting Department of Union Camp Corporation.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 55 years, J.E. Stieh; one son, Ernest Lauren Stieh (Jude); one daughter, Nancy Ellen Stieh; two grandchildren, Sgt. 1st Class Ernest Lauren Stieh and John Morgan Stieh; four great-grandchildren, Alexander, Zachary, Micah and Sarah; two step-grandsons, Joseph and Tony Griffiths; five step-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Audrey Padgett (Donald) and Edna Butler (Marvin); and three brothers, Roland Newsome (Ryland), Wendell Newsome and Clayton Newsome (Joan); two brothers-in-law, Delbert O’Meara and Ed Turner; and a host of beloved nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 26, in Wright Funeral Home with the Rev. Greg Kitts and the Rev. Willis Switzer officiating. The burial will be at Black Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home, and suggests that memorial donations be made to Black Creek Baptist Church or a favorite charity. www.wrightfuneralhome.org.
