WALTERS — John Leonard “J.L.” Rose Jr, 75, passed away on Nov. 8, 2015, in Sentara Obici Hospital.
J.L. was predeceased by his parents, Leonard and Frances Rose.
He was a member of Mt. Carmel Christian Church, and owner of J.L. Rose Hog Market in Courtland. J.L. had been in the pork industry for over 50 years.
He had served in the Virginia National Guard and on the board of directors of Farmers Bank.
He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Rose; and his son, Michael D. Rose, and his wife, Mae, of Murfreesboro, North Carolina.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 12, in Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, with the Rev. Curtis Faison officiating. The burial will follow in Mt. Carmel Christian Church Cemetery.
The reception will follow at the Walters Ruritan Building. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 7-8:30 p.m. in the funeral home, and suggests memorial donations be made to a favorite charity.
