His vehicle, which dates to the 1800s, was restored by Amish in Pennsylvania.

“I’ve been searching for a new sleigh for four years and could never find the right one,” Santa said. “But I found this sleigh and it is just what I’ve been looking for.”

He didn’t buy the new sleigh just for his own enjoyment, though.

“This sleigh is something that children will be able to enjoy with me,” Santa added.

The Elf Parade is on Thursday, Dec. 3, and begins at 5:30 p.m. Children are asked to assemble in the parking lot in front of the Train Depot/Visitor’s Center in Downtown Franklin, where they will be given their elf hats. Santa will be arriving at 5:45 p.m.

“The Elf Parade is always a fun night for everyone in the community,” Santa said.

He and the children will walk to Barret’s Landing together, where his new sleigh will be parked under the gazebo for everybody to see. Children will be able to climb up into the sleigh with Santa and tell him what they want for Christmas. Parents are encouraged to bring their cameras to take pictures of their children with Santa.

Mrs. Claus will be handing out candy canes, and the community Christmas tree will be lit as well.

“This parade gets everybody in the Christmas spirit,” Mrs. Claus said.

The City of Franklin 2015 Christmas Parade will take place on Friday, Dec. 4, and will begin at 7 p.m. There, Santa and Mrs. Claus will be riding on a float in their sleigh near the end of the parade line-up.

These parades are brought to the public every year by the Downtown Franklin Association.
