To the Editor:
On behalf of the Cheroenhaka (Nottoway) Indian Tribe and the Cheroenhaka (Nottoway) Indian Tribal Heritage Foundation Inc., we would like to thank the following schools and their principals and teachers for allowing their students to attend the recent “SOL” appropriate 18th Annual Cheroenhaka (Nottoway) Indian Tribe’s Powwow and School Day held at “Cattashowtown,” Courtland, Virginia.
More that 700 students (public, private and home schools) attended the event and had the opportunity to tour the tribe’s 17th-Century replica Iroquoian Palisade Village.
We commend the teachers and adult leaders for the orderly and self disciplined manner in which the students conducted themselves:
• Alliance Christian Academy, Portsmouth, Virginia
• Capron Elementary School, Capron, Virginia
• Meherrin Elementary School, Newsoms, Virginia
• Nottoway Elementary School, Sedley, Virginia
• Riverdale Elementary School, Courtland, Virginia
• Richmond Waldorf School, Richmond, Virginia
• Ryan Academy, Norfolk, Virginia
Thank you,
Chief Walt “Red Hawk” Brown
