NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
Notice is hereby given that on November 23, 2015, the Board of Supervisors of the County of Southampton, Virginia (the “County”) will conduct a public hearing, which may be continued or adjourned, as required under applicable law, in accordance with Section 15.2-2606 of the Code of Virginia of 1950, as amended, with respect to the adoption by the Board of a resolution or resolutions, as may be necessary or convenient, regarding the proposed financing of certain infrastructure improvements. The purpose of the financing is to pay the costs of the construction, renovation, rehabilitation, and equipping of certain County facilities, including the expansion of the Courthouse lobby and installation of security and lighting upgrades, repainting of three County water tanks, replacement of the dining hall and kitchen for inmates at the Southampton County Jail Farm, and related engineering, administrative and financing costs (collectively, “the Project”). The County plans to fund the Project through the issuance of a lease revenue bond to be issued in a principal amount not to exceed $1,400,000. The Project financing amount is not secured by the general obligation or a general pledge of the taxes of the County.
The public hearing, which may be continued or adjourned, will be conducted at 7:00 p.m., or as soon thereafter as the matter may be heard, by the Board of Supervisors in the Board Room of the Southampton County Office Center, 26022 Administration Center Drive, Courtland, Virginia. Interested persons may appear at such time and place and present their views whether orally or in writing, or submit written comments prior to the hearing. The County may set time limits on speakers and other rules and procedures for the conduct of this public hearing.
