Calvin L. Little Sr.

WINDSOR — Deacon Calvin L. Little Sr. of West Blackwater Road in Windsor, departed this life on December 20, 2015, while resting peacefully in his home. He was a native of Jackson, North Carolina, born on June 6, 1964, to Jessie and Azzie Parks Little.

At the age of 5, Calvin’s family located to Newsoms in Southampton County. He was a 1983 graduate of Southampton High School and thereafter continued his educational studies by earning his certification in welding at Paul D. Camp Community College in 1992. Upon high school graduation, he worked for many years at Narricott Industries in Boykins, Virginia. Calvin was employed with Newport News Shipbuilding and Drydock until 2002.

For several years, Calvin was a member of Mount Tabor Baptist Church in Newsoms, Virginia. During the more recent years, he became a member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church, where he served on the Deacon Board.

Calvin was preceded in death by his father, and leaves to cherish his memory, his devoted wife of 25 years, Verylessie Little; one son, Calvin L. Little Jr.; sisters, Louise Seay (Sammy), Geraldine Little (Carver Lee), Ann Little, Gloria Little, Laura Suggs, Ella Mae Little; brother, James Little (Roberta), an aunt, an uncle, nieces, nephews, cousins and many caring friends.

The celebration of Calvin’s life will be on Saturday, December 26 at noon in Cedar Grove Baptist Church, 17023 Black Creek Road, Zuni, Virginia, with Pastor John B. Townsell delivering the message of comfort.

On the day of service, his remains will be placed in church for viewing by 10 a.m. The committal and benediction will be held in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the annex of New Hope Baptist Church on South Street in Franklin. A traditional service with dignity will be conducted by Wm. M. Johnson & Sons Inc., 224 S. Main St., Franklin.
