FRANKLIN — Edwin B. Fast, 86, died on Jan. 3, 2016, surrounded by his loving family.

A resident of Franklin and Blacksburg, he is survived by his wife of 59 years, Sue; daughter, Margaret Scott “Scottie” Phillips, grandson, Blakely Thomas Phillips; and granddaughter, Margaret Shelton “Maggie” Phillips of Roanoke.

Ed was predeceased by his only son, Edwin B. Fast III.

Ed served in the Army and Naval Reserve and was a deacon in the Presbyterian Church.

The family requests that remembrances be sent to the Franklin Presbyterian Church, 405 Lee St., Franklin, VA 23851.

A celebration of Thanksgiving for Ed’s life will be celebrated at a later date.
