FRANKLIN
Over the next several weeks, there will be multiple opportunities for community members to hit sales and receive discounts in Downtown Franklin, as well as support the area by shopping locally.

The events will be hosted by the downtown Franklin Divas and Dudes.

The first event, “Hop on Over for Downtown Savings,” will be from Saturday, March 19, to Saturday, March 26.

“Starting that first Saturday [March 19], anyone who comes shopping in the downtown area will receive an egg that has a certain discount inside. Once they open their egg, they will receive that discount,” Marry Morris of Mackans Office Supply and Printing said. “On Saturday, all the names of those who participated over the week will be entered into a drawing and the winner will receive an Easter Basket that contains items from all the downtown merchants.”

On Thursday, April 14, the divas and dudes will host Ladies Night Out, where the merchants will have specials, refreshments and door prizes. This event will be from 6 to 8 p.m.

They will also host a Sidewalk Sale in April, where several of the merchants will display sale items on the sidewalks outside of their shops. This event will be on Saturday, April 23.

The Downtown Franklin Divas and Dudes have come together to create these events in hopes of getting more people to shop in the downtown area.

They want the community to understand the importance of shopping locally, as they relayed that there are several reasons.

Two of these reasons are that it helps the community’s well-being by linking neighbors in a web of economic and social relationships, as well as contributing to to local causes, and locally owned businesses keep dollars in the local economy on a much larger scale than chain stores do.
