BRANCHVILLE — Odessa Molenoria Jones Darden, 74, answered God’s call from labor unto eternal rest on Monday, July 11, 2016.

Odessa was born on Aug. 29, 1941, in Margarettsville, (Northampton County) North Carolina, to the late John L. Jones and Maggie Tann Jones.

She had been employed as a clerk with Sunoco in Boykins, Virginia.

Odessa was married to the late Hollie Darden Jr.

Precious memories, oh how they linger, in the hearts of her children: Kenneth Darden (Joyce) of Boykins; Patricia Peterson (Leonard), Hamilton Darden (Jackie) and Strawn Darden (Deborah), all of Branchville, Virginia; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; her children-at-heart, Michael Darden (Bernita), Lee Andrew Watford and Keisha Watford, both of Boykins; and Azalea Darden of Brooklyn, New York; six sisters, Hattie Keys of Baltimore, Maryland; Clarine McCants (Curtis) and Margaret Smith, both of Newark, New Jersey; Priscilla Davis and Mary Futrell (Clarence), both of Seaboard, North Carolina; and Mary Magdalene Jones of Branchville; four brothers, Oscar E. Jones (Katherine) of Newark; Charles M. Jones and Ernest Jones (Denise), both of Margarettsville; and Ed Lewis Jones of Seaboard; her aunt, Katherine Branch of Boykins; her mother-in-law, Mary Anna Darden Bryant of Branchville; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends.

Professional services have been entrusted with Faison’s Funeral Service Inc., 301 Park St., Seaboard, where Mrs. Darden will lie in repose from 1 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, July 17, with the family present to receive relatives and friends from 5 to 7 p.m.

Homegoing services honoring her life, love and legacy will be at 1 p.m. on Monday, July 18, in Rising Star Missionary Baptist Church, Branchville, with the Rev. E.R. Buffaloe delivering words of comfort. She will be laid to rest in the church cemetery.
