VIRGINIA BEACH — Donald M. Brown, 92, died peacefully on Aug. 29, 2016 in Virginia Beach, Virginia. His devoted wife, Janet, was at his side.

Janet and Don were married in 1980 on Don’s birthday, July 26.

Don was born in New Bern, North Carolina, to William and Claudia Brown. He was the third of their five children.

He is predeceased by his parents, his brother Bill Jr., and his sister, Dot.

He is survived by his brother Graham Brown (Pat) of Bridgeton, North Carolina; and his sister Claudia Roach of New Bern.

Also left to cherish his memory are his two sons, Wayne of New Bern, and Ken (Vicki) of Franklin, Virginia; and Janet’s children, Kent Spain (Norma) of Suffolk; and Melanie Murray (Vince) of Virginia Beach. He had six grandchildren, Elizabeth Flowers (Wes), Ann Taylor Lusk (Matt), Morgan Sullenberger (Jeff), Meredith Lautzenheiser (Nathan), Livingston Brown and Rachel Brown; and four great-grandsons, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Don served in the Army Air Corps during World War II as a pilot and 1st Lieutenant.

He was a proud graduate of The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and attended the University of Virginia Darden School of Business. H

e was retired from Union Camp Corp. where he served as Comptroller of the Fine Paper Division.

The celebration of Don’s life will be on Friday, Sept. 2, at 11 a.m. in Francis Asbury United Methodist Church, 1871 North Great Neck Rd., Virginia Beach.
