Community Harvest Outreach Inc. is again prepared to help parents this Christmas with the annual Lots of Toys for Tots program. Through the generosity of individuals, businesses, churches, civic and social groups, there’ll be plenty to make the holiday merry and bright.

Director Nancy Williams said that as of last Sunday, there were at least 700-plus toys available. The counting and sorting were to be done on Thursday night and will those would be sorted by age and gender.

Williams also said that distribution will take place on Saturday, Dec. 18, from 10 a.m. to noon at 5E Roberts Ave., Windsor. Apostle Laequinla Hunter of God’s Anointed Touch Ministries, who is also with CHO, later confirmed that time and added people are advised to arrive early.

She added that parents must bring their ID and children with them for toy selection.

Clothes are also available, and food if necessary.

Collecting and giving food, clothing and toys to people in genuine need has been a part of the organization since it began in 2007, said Williams.

She added that CHO sees “a broad spectrum of families; single, married and seniors.”

Further, Williams has seen that most parents have three children when they seek aid from Community Harvest Outreach. Sometimes they’re single parents, but even with two working jobs, “it’s just enough to pay the bills.”

A particular consideration for seniors is food.

CHO does its distributions on Wednesdays and Thursdays.
