Medical clinic for seniors has merit

The proposal for a medical clinic offered at the MLK recreation center strikes us as a viable idea.
During the recent council meeting, Southampton Memorial Hospital CEO Kim Marks suggested that it could be done during Senior Services’ luncheon programs. Naturally, it would start on a trial basis. A physician or two could perform limited medical assessments for city residents of all ages.
Should the idea be approved and successful, the clinic could then be permanently established at the Hayden Village once the renovations there are done.
Because this project would involve leasing city property, a public hearing is required.
That meeting is scheduled for Monday, Oct. 23, at 7 p.m., in the council chamber of city hall. Mark the date on your calendar and come to share your support or concern.
