ZUNI — Robert Clifton “Bobby” Fowler, 74, went to be with his Lord and Savior after a 15-month battle with cancer.
Bobby was born in Southampton County, a son of the late Burley Robert and Helen Britt Fowler.
He was a member of Tucker Swamp Baptist Church, where he had been a former deacon and had served on the cemetery committee for 40 years.
Bobby had retired from farming and had served on various peanut boards, including as a trustee for the VC Peanut DMA LLC and on the board of directors of Southampton Farm Bureau.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 53 years, Kay Munford Fowler; two brothers, McCoy Fowler (Carolyn) and Wayne Fowler; sister-in-law, Brenda Phillips (Ed); four nieces, Tracy Bachelor (Rick), Melissa Fowler, Suzanne Karnes (Jared) and Stephanie Khan (Moain); two great-nieces, RuthAnn and Lori Bachelor; one great-nephew Ezra Karnes; extended family, Ella Sykes, Dave and Darla Arendell, Judy Hedgepeth, the Helmey family; and a host of cousins.
Kay and family would like to thank Bobby’s special caregivers, Daphine Worrell, Wanda Ashburn and Mary Flythe.
The celebration of Bobby’s life will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 17, in Tucker Swamp Baptist Church with the Rev. Curtis Faison officiating. Burial will be private.
The reception will follow the service in the church fellowship hall.
