FRANKLIN — Mr. Darnell Lee Sr. of Edgehill Drive answered God’s call to claim his eternal reward on Dec. 1, 2017, while a patient in Sentara Virginia Beach Hospital.
He was born in Southampton County on July 10, 1960, to John and Earline Whitehead Lee.
Darnell attended the public schools of Southampton County and graduated from Southampton High School in 1980.
At an early age, Darnell became a member of White Oak Spring Baptist Church, where he served on the Senior Usher Ministry and the Male Chorus.
Darnell was gainfully employed for more than 20 years with International Paper Corp.
Many years ago, he became an entrepreneur and established Lee’s Lawncare Service.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Frances Hunt; and most recently, his brother, John Lee Jr.
He is survived by his loving wife, Kim Walker-Lee; two sons, Korey (Brittney), “Bud” (Sabrina); one grandchild, Darnell “Ace” Lee, III; three sisters, Carrie Dawson (Jesse), Lucy Hunt (Walter) and Cynthia Woodley (Kenny); two brothers, Alvin Lee Sr. (Brenda) and Milton Lee (Neomia); one sister-in-law, Karen Walker-Lee; one brother-in-law, Herbert Hunt; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and many loyal friends.
The celebration of Darnell’s journey home will be on Wednesday, Dec. 6, at 11 a.m., in Apostolic Faith Church of God, 680 Oak St., Franklin, with the Rev. Melvin Wofford delivering the message; the Rev. D.S. Riddick II officiating; and Overseer Ronnie Warren is host pastor.
A traditional service with dignity will be conducted by Wm. M. Johnson & Sons Funeral Home Inc., 224 S. Main St, Franklin.
