FRANKLIN
The arctic air mass that’s been hovering in Western Tidewater is not going away anytime soon. In fact, the National Weather Service in Wakefield is calling not only for four to five inches of snow in this region on Wednesday night and Thursday morning, but also more of that extra cold air staying put, and even bringing night temperatures down to single digits. Days and nights like this require getting as much warmth as possible.
To help, Thomas Councill Jr. of Franklin said on Tuesday afternoon he has emergency blankets that reportedly keep in 90 percent of a person’s body heat. They came to him freely, he said, through a physician he knows who donated them.
In turn, said Councill, he is giving away what he’s received to people in need of such covering at no charge. He won’t even take donations for them.
“It’s people helping people,” said Councill.
