The Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries (DGIF) has put out an advisory to the public about websites claiming to sell Virginia fishing licenses. The department wishes to remind the public that GoOutdoorsVA.com and dgif.virginia.gov are the only official websites to purchase fishing and hunting licenses and permits.
Those with smartphones can access the Go Outdoors Virginia mobile app for license purchases.
Some of the sites claiming to sell fishing licenses that the department has been made aware of are: fishinglicense.org; fishandgamelicenses.org; recreationallicenses.org; licenses.org; and hunting-license.org. DGIF has no affiliation with these sites. Customers have reported completing transactions on these sites believing they were buying a license or permit, when, in fact, they purchased an informational guide.
The public may view DGIF’s hunting and fishing digests online or pick up a copy wherever licenses are sold. To view a list of all license vendors, please check the DGIF website at https://www.dgif.virginia.gov/licenses/. For more information, contact the DGIF at 804-367-1000 or email dgifweb@dgif.virginia.gov.
