Gunfire incidents reported

FRANKLIN

Over the Memorial Day holiday weekend, officers responded to several calls involving reported gunfire, according to Capt. Tim Whitt, spokesman for the Franklin City Police Department.

Thursday at 6:14 p.m. A caller reported a gun shot in the area of Homestead Road. Officers responded to and checked the area. Nothing was found.

Saturday at 9:14 p.m. A caller reported gun shots in the 700 block of North High Street. Officers responded to and checked the area. Nothing was found.

On Saturday at 11:47 p.m. An officer was dispatched to Washington Street on Sunday about gun shots that occurred the night before. Officers located five spent 9mm cartridge casings in the road on Maplewood Avenue. It was learned that as gunshots were heard, several cars were seen leaving Washington Street. One of the vehicles, a gold compact car had bullet holes in the door. The police department received no calls about the gunfire while it was occurring.

Sunday at 8:30 p.m. A caller reported gun shots on Madison Street. A green Chevrolet Malibu was seen leaving the area before officers arrived. Thirteen spent 9mm cartridge casings were recovered from the road at the intersection of Rosewood Avenue and Madison Street. It was learned that two black male suspects in the green Malibu’s passenger compartment had firearms and fired shots into the air. Officers checked with residents on Madison Street to make sure no one was injured.

Sunday at 10:05 p.m. A caller reported gunfire, seven to feight shots in rapid succession in Forest Pines. Officers checked the area and observed persons using fireworks.
