Beatrice C. Rawlings

RICHMOND — Beatrice C. Rawlings departed this life on Thursday, June 28, 2018, to be with her Heavenly Father.
She was born and reared in Southampton County, Virginia, on May 24, 1934, to Isaiah and Lucille Crutchfield.
She attended high school at Riverview High School in Courtland, Virginia.
Beatrice was a member of First Baptist Church in Courtland, until she later moved her membership to Tabernacle of Holiness Church in Franklin, Virginia; the pastor is Bea Tubbs.
Beatrice worked as a school bus driver for Southampton County for many years, but nursing was her passion. Her nursing career spans 40-plus years from assisting the former Dr. A.B. Harrison to Southampton Memorial Hospital in Franklin; Portsmouth General Hospital in Portsmouth, Virginia; Tucker Pavilion, Chippenham Hospital and MCV Hospital in Richmond, Virginia; Kenner Army Hospital, Fort Lee, Virginia, and finally retiring from McGuire VA Hospital in Richmond.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Lewis and George Crutchfield; two sisters, Gracie Boone and Gloria Crutchfield; and one son, Fred D. Rawlings Jr.
She leaves to cherish many precious memories: five daughters, Evelyn, Audrey and Regina (Pete) of Richmond; Connie (Pastor James Walker) of Williamsburg, Virginia; and Kesha of Stafford, Virginia; three sons, Peter andKenny (Valencia) of Richmond; and Pastor Alvin Rawlings (Shonna) of Franklin; two sisters, Ella Banks and Elsie Hill of Franklin; 18 grandchildren, Marvin (Krystal,) D’Won, Janise (Michael,) Chaday, Lamont (Sabrina,) Latasha (Darrell,) Kenya (Dennis,) Kendall (James,) Kenae, Alvin Jr., Tashan, Keshon, Alonzo, Ginana, Peter, Darneshia, Raynesha and Talite; 10 great-grandchildren, Malei, Mason, Milan, Mckenna, Journey Faith, Matthew, Hanna, Q’ahri, Kendrix and Zayliah; and her dearest and best friend, Mrs. Shirley Reid of Fort Washington, Maryland; a host of cousins and friends.
The public viewing will be on Thursday, July 5, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., in Wm. M. Johnson & Sons Funeral Home Inc.
The funeral will be on Friday, July 6, at noon in First Baptist Church, 318 Hall St., Franklin, with the Rev. Samuel Buck delivering the eulogy; the Rev. Dr. D.S. Riddick II is the host pastor.
A traditional service with dignity will be performed by Wm. M. Johnson & Sons Funeral Home Inc., 224 S. Main St., Franklin.
