Franklin Youth Football & Cheer holds Championship Night

The Franklin Youth Football & Cheer football program held its annual Championship night for the 2018 football season on Nov. 7 at Armory Drive Recreational Park.
The championship night opened with Franklin Mustangs playing the Boykins Bulldogs for the flag team championship. The Mustangs won the game with a score of 24-12.
For the junior league championship game, the Boykins Bulldogs defeated the Franklin Mustangs 24-18 on the main field of the facility.
At the conclusion of the flag & junior league championship games and the awarding of the trophies by the league commissioner Michael Bradshaw, the cheerleaders took to the field to participate in their annual exhibition.
As usual, the stands were packed and many a cell phone was seen videoing the fancy steps and routines that the groups performed during this special period of the championship night.
The cheerleading groups that performed were the Windsor Knights, the Holland Razorbacks, the Boykins Bulldogs and the Franklin Mustangs. Each of the groups were well received and applauded at the conclusion of their routine.
After this enjoyable exhibition, this set the stage for the last game of the night between the Boykins Bulldogs versus the Franklin Mustangs for the senior league championship. As usual, the game went down to the wire.
After trailing, the entire game the Boykins Bulldogs scored late in the game to take an 8-6 lead over the Mustangs. With less than a minute left in the game, the Mustangs scored following a big pass reception. They went on to be successful in scoring on a two point conversion to increase their led to 14-8 with about 19 seconds remaining in the game.
On the Franklin kick-off, a Bulldog runner dodged many Mustangs but was finally stopped after reaching deep into the Mustang territory. With only a few seconds remaining the Mustang defense held to claim the championship.
