In the All-Region district for field hockey, two members of the Southampton High School team recently received honorable mention for their game skills this past season.
Caroline Adams, a senior who played forward and offense, and Kassandra DeJesus, a sophomore who was a defender, were picked for the recognition by 12 coaches of the region, save their own, Alfred Charity, who could not vote for them.
The team had not won any games this season, but Charity said the group is “very young” this year. The most recent competition was against New Kent for the regional playoffs two weeks ago, but the Lady Indians had lost 5-0.
Last year he had taken his team then to witness the playoffs in Virginia Beach. This year’s will be in Northern Virginia.
The coach acknowledged that it has been a few years since the school’s players had been recognized. He is proud of his team’s playing, as well as the two Lady Indians’ honors.
