Capron Elementary fifth grade students are currently learning about the Civil War in their Virginia Studies class with Grayson Drake.
David Dickens, father of fifth-grade student Jayden Dickens, brought in several of his father-in-law’s Civil War artifacts found in Southampton County. His collection included pieces of ammunition, pieces from horse’s bridles, buttons from uniforms and newspaper articles.
The students were given a first hand look at what it may have been like to live during that period of history.
We were very fortunate to have Dickens share his knowledge of the Civil War with our students.
