Bronco netters win two matches

SUSSEX

The Franklin High School boy’s tennis team won its first match of the season on April 26 at the tennis courts at Sussex High School.

Winning for the Broncos in singles was William Wellons (2-8), William Brown (1-8) and Xavion Perry (5-8). Winning in doubles were Wellons and Brown (1-8), and Brown and Xavion Perry (1-8).

The Broncos won with an overall score of 5-4.

Bronco boys win on the road over Dragons

PETERSBURG

The Franklin High School boy’s tennis team escaped in a dogfight win against the Dragons of Appomattox Regional Governor’s School, on April 17. The match was played on the tennis courts at Lee Park in Petersburg.

After playing the singles matches and as the doubles matches started, the overall score of the match was 4-3 in favor of the Broncos. Needing 5 wins to seal a victory, the visiting Broncos needed one win. With both doubles matches being played at the same time, the two teams battled point for point in many of the games. In a close battle during both matches, the Broncos fought hard to get the final win in both matches.
