Butch Turner honored during Youth League games

FRANKLIN

The Youth League baseball t-games continued on Saturday at Armory Drive Recreational Park. The games started at 10 a.m. with the Maroon versus Purple team. In a tough matchup between the two teams, the Maroon team edged the Purple team with a score of 9-7.

Before the start of the second game, The Down the Middle Foundation President Darnell Lee presented a special award to one of the true legends of the City of Franklin sports programs, Ronald “Butch” Turner.

Turner retired after working over 40 years as the athletic specialist for Franklin Department of Parks & Recreation. Comments were spoken of his love for all sports and his outstanding work to beautifully maintain athletic fields of the city. Many members of his family accompanied him for the presentation.

For the second game, the Royal Blue battled hard against the Red team to end up in an 8 all tie.
