FRANKLIN — James E. Perry Jr. of Council Road, Franklin, Virginia, departed this life on Sept. 6, 2019, while a patient in Sentara Obici Hospital.

The Isle of Wight County native was born April 1, 1948, to Marie Williams Perry and the late James Perry Sr.

After 10 years of service, James retired from Birdsong Peanut Company.

Early in life, James became a member of Piney Grove Baptist Church.

He attended the public schools of Isle of Wight County.

He is survived by four sons, Lorenzo Shearin, Tony Robinson, Fabian Perry, Julian Perry; his mother, Marie Q. Perry; three sisters, Maria Perry, Louise Flythe (Kenny), Sylvia Perry; one brother, William Perry; six grandchildren; one uncle, Willie Williams; nieces, nephews and cousins.

The service will be on Friday, Sept. 13, at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Wm. M. Johnson & Sons Funeral Home Inc., 224 S. Main St., with the Rev. Delores A. Manley officiating. The committal and benediction will be in Southview Cemetery.
