It was not a good night for the Franklin High School Broncos as they faced the Trojans of Essex High School on Friday at Armory Drive Football Stadium. The Trojans opened the first quarter with 19 points to 0 for the home team. The Trojans added 16 points in the second quarter and 19 points again in the third quarter to take an easy 54-12 win over the Broncos.
Coach Karl Robertson said after the game, “We came out tonight and basically Essex was the better team tonight. They took it to us. We had some bright spots, we definitely had some bright spots but at the same time we have to execute. We can’t make mistakes especially with a good team, and sometimes we shot ourselves in the foot. But the bottom line, that is football. You are going to win some and you are going to lose some. We have to go back to practice to the board and come back and try to get better next weekend. Park View is coming and that is not going to change. We have to put together a game plan and try to get successful for next Friday.”
Adding comments on behalf of the Broncos team by a player, Kamon Walton added, “ I feel we could have played better and could have executed a lot of the things we did tonight. And yes, Essex was the better team tonight and they came out with the better score. But at the end of the day, I am to still ride with my guys and we are going to get Park View on next week.”
For the bright spots, the Broncos quarterback Myrone Barrett tossed a 53 yard touch down pass to Kendal Hines in the second quarter of play. Barrett added the Broncos final points on a one run also in the second quarter.
The Broncos will be on the road this week against Park View High School in South Hill at 7 p.m.
