FRANKLIN — Joseph “Joe” Wallace Goodson, 78, passed away on Nov. 16, 2019, in Sentara Obici Hospital.
Joe was born in Golden, Texas, and was a Navy veteran of Vietnam Era.
He was a son of the late Samuel Albert and Clarssie Lockridge Goodson.
He was predeceased by his loving wife of nearly 50 years, Tena Arrington Goodson.
Joe was a retired supervisor in the maintenance department of Union Camp Corporation after 32 years of service.
He was a lifetime member of the Bronco Rod and Gun Club, and was a former coach, along with Tena, of the Carrsville Girls Softball Allstar Team.
Left to cherish his memory are two daughters, Jackie Goodson-Howell (Stewart) and Becky Goodson-Belcher (Kelly) of Franklin; one brother, Earl C. Goodson (Ruth) of Dumas, Texas; and three beloved grandchildren, Robert C. Howell, Jackson T. Howell and Katelin R. Belcher, all of Franklin; and a host of nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 23, in Wright Funeral Home, with the Rev. Ernest L. Trueblood officiating. The burial with military honors will follow in Beaver Dam Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Friday from 6 to 8 p. m. in the funeral home, and other times at the home of his daughter, Jackie, 28273 Handsom Road, Franklin, Virginia.
