We here at The Tidewater News have plenty of reasons to be grateful beyond what will be served at the dinner table on Thanksgiving Day. First and foremost, we have you, our readers, to thank for your continued support through subscriptions either in print, online or even both. However you are reading us, we are glad.

Among those of you who read us are also our advertisers who make it possible to even have a paper. Whether it’s through classifieds or display ads, that financial support largely pays for the cost of newsprint, printing, salaries, utilities, etc. When residents use local services and products of those advertisers, some of that money finds its way to us so that we may continue to serve you.

Then there are our critics, such as those pointing out errors in print, or even perceived biases in reporting. Critiques might sometimes sting egos, but ultimately they serve to correct/prevent mistakes or maintain a necessary balance of viewpoints.

Lest we forget, there are among all of the above people who contact us with story ideas or provide columns, photographs, op-eds, letters to the editor, movie reviews, tips, school news, etc. The staff writers cannot be everywhere all the time, so the contributions you provide not only inform or even entertain fellow readers, they also enrich the paper through a diversity of images and voices that help to reflect the community we serve.
