COVID-19 cases statewide up 20 percent

The number of COVID-19 cases in Virginia went up 20 percent from Saturday to Sunday.

The state now has a total of 890 cases, with 112 hospitalizations and 22 deaths. About 10,609 people have been tested, and the positive tests represent about 8 percent of all tests.

The Western Tidewater Health District reports five cases — three in Isle of Wight County, one in Southampton County and one in Suffolk. The district had reported its first death on Saturday, in a man in his 60s with several underlying health conditions.
