Isle of Wight County Sheriff’s Office deputies continue to investigate a shooting that took place in the 1400 block of Bowling Green Road in Isle of Wight County yesterday evening.

According to Lt. Tommy Potter, spokesman for the Sheriff’s Office, the department received a call about the incident around 6:40 p.m. Sunday, April 5. When deputies arrived on-scene they found one male who had been shot numerous times.

The victim was airlifted to a local trauma center, Potter said, and the suspect, who had fled the scene by the time deputies arrived, was taken into custody a short time later. The suspect was also transported to a local hospital for observation as a result of an altercation the department says took place at the Bowling Green Road residence earlier that evening.

The Sheriff’s Office is not releasing the identify of the suspect at this time. The investigation is ongoing.
