GATES, N.C. — Donald Ray Johnson, 65, passed away on Nov. 23, 2020, at Vidant North Hospital in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina.

Ray attended Windsor High School, and was a former sergeant for the Virginia Department of Corrections.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Terylee Robertson Johnson; a daughter and son, Stephanie Johnson and Sterling Johnson, both of Zuni; a sister, Faye J. Vassiliou of Virginia Beach; a brother, Floyd Wayne Johnson of Suffolk; a stepfather; three stepchildren; and nine grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 28, at Rob and Maegan Watson’s residence, 303 Black Mingle Road, Gates, North Carolina.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Trooper Robert Hill Toy Drive, c/o Bronco Federal Credit Union, 135 Stewart Drive, Franklin, VA 23851.
