COURTLAND – Naomi Denson Rainey, 87, widow of John Thomas “Jack” Rainey Sr., passed away on Jan. 30, 2021, in Accordius Health at Courtland.
Mrs. Rainey was a native of Southampton County, a longtime resident of Franklin and a daughter of the late Edward and Jennie Denson. She was also predeceased by a son, George Rainey, two grandsons, Mickey Pitts Jr. and Freddie Drake and a sister, Fannie Bristow.
Mrs. Rainey was a 1952 graduate of Franklin High School, and a retired quality control inspector in the Sheet Finishing Department at Union Camp Corporation.
Left to cherish her memory are two daughters, Wanda Stephenson and her husband, Jimmy of Carrsville and Jacqueline Drake of Courtland; two sons, John T. Rainey Jr. and his wife, Carolyn of Blackstone and Michael Rainey and his wife, Renee of Franklin; nine grandchildren, Melanie Metzler (Brady), Shannon Steele (Justin), Joseph Drake (Amy), Brandon Pitts (Lindsey), Allen Rainey Jr., Zachary Rainey, Star Drake, Madison Drake and Joseph Drake; eight great-grandchildren, McKenzie and Luke Pitts, Brayden, Keagan and Addilyn Drake, Brooklyn Harrington, Kendyle Metzler and Hannah Steele.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorial donations can be made to a favorite charity.
The family would like to express their gratitude for the excellent care their loved one received at Accordius Courtland Health Care. The family will also be forever grateful for the consideration they received.
