Tornado warning expires; tornado watch still in effect

UPDATED 6:03 p.m.: The tornado warning has been allowed to expire.
Earlier: A tornado warning is in effect for the southwestern area of Southampton County until 6 p.m.
At 5:44 p.m., a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located 10 miles northwest of Boykins, moving northeast at 40 miles per hour. Hazards include the possibility of a tornado and quarter-size hail.
People should go to your basement or safe room if you have one, or an interior room away from windows. If you are in a mobile home, outside or in a vehicle, seek shelter inside a sturdy building immediately.
