ORLANDO, Florida – Douglas Peyton Stutts passed peacefully on April 25, 2021. Born on Dec. 4, 1962 in Richmond, Virginia, he became an operating technician for 14 years at Union Camp in Franklin. He went on to study English at the University of South Carolina from 1997-2000. He was preceded in death by his mother, Carolyn Carver Johnson Stutts and father, Joseph Harrison Stutts.
He is survived by his children, Jennifer Stutts Phillips, Jacklyn Carver Stutts, Elizabeth Byers (Dawn), Madison Parker Stutts and Joshua Douglas Stutts; grandchildren, Jadyn Nicole Solomon, Benjamin Scott Stutts Phillips, Ashton Nicholas Phillips and Jaxson Douglas Phillips; as well as his three siblings, Jack Stutts (Alice), Lawrence Stutts (Ann) and Sherwood Dixon (Steve); along with many nieces and nephews.
He is remembered as deeply passionate about history and music. His hobbies included building model tanks and collecting albums. He was a Minnesota Vikings fan, always pulling for the underdog. He was free spirited and playful, but also an immaculately organized and well-spoken person. His children and grandchildren remember his creative games and endless laughter.
A graveside memorial service will be held at Poplar Springs Cemetery on Thursday, May 13, at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 7023, Merrifield, VA 22116-7023.
